In the immature state, we don’t want to feel discomfort, pain, or disturbance and when these feelings are triggered, we easily feel overwhelmed and become reactive, impulsive, emotional, controlling, isolating, or aggressive.
In the mature state, you are able to accept disappointment, loss, and frustration and recognize that life at times is painful and frightening.
In this section, we teach how to recognize when you enter the immature state and with acceptance and love begin to develop the ability to contain frustration instead of acting out. This eventually brings a deep sense of dignity, self-respect, and inner nourishment.
