.. When We Come Close to Someone Important to Us ?
This Video Class is in English without additional translation.
This is an issue that affects so many people we work with.
Perhaps you may have noticed that when you feel attracted to someone, when you look up to someone, when someone becomes really important to you, when you want attention, respect, approval, affection, or recognition from someone, you may lose a sense of yourself.
The underlying cause of this issue is something called “mystification.”
It’s the way that we give away our power to people who are important to us. We start to doubt ourselves and disconnect from our natural inner groundedness and flow. Energetically we start to lean towards the other person to have connection and in the process, we lose ourselves.
In this video class we will look deeper at why this happens and help to give tools to begin to find grounding inside, even when you are deeply intimate with another person.
There is a part of us inside that wants to idealize people, to believe that the world is a sensitive and loving place and that people are always honest and trustworthy. We want to let go of having to be in control, to look up to and trust authority, and hope to get the love and caring that we missed as a child.
In this state we don’t recognize that the other person is also wounded and may sometimes be in their reactive state. The other person may at times say things they don’t mean, they may be confused, unclear or for whatever reason not be available to us the way we would like.
From this state we put the other person on a pedestal, don’t see their reality, and then when we get disappointed, we suddenly see them as the worst person possible.
Losing our sense of self and our power when we come close to someone has deep roots in our past when we were often not supported to learn to trust ourselves; or we may even have been punished for being different than our caregivers. Many of us had to abandon ourselves to get even the smallest connection in order to survive.
The format is teaching, some questions and a guided meditation.
